World Series of Poker 2010
The 41st World Series of Poker took place from May 27th to July 17th, 2010 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas , Nevada . The final table ( Engl. Final Table ) of the main tournament (Engl. Main Event ) was played in November 2010. With a total of 57 tournaments in various variants and limits that was after four year break Tournament of Champions and for the fourth time by Annie Duke and Don Cheadle organized charity tournament Ante Up for Africa organized.
The 2010 World Series of Poker was hosted by Harrah's Entertainment under the direction of Jack Effel as tournament director. The television broadcaster ESPN was responsible for the preparation for television .
Changes to previous years
In addition to the Amazon Room (approx. 11,500 m²), the tournaments also took place in the Pavilion Ballroom (approx. 17,000 m²). Due to the larger playing area, around 20 percent more tables were available than in the previous year. After Jeffrey Pollack stepped down in November 2009, there was no WSOP commissioner in 2010 .
Set of rules
In addition to minor changes, most of the rules were adopted from the 2009 World Series of Poker . Rule 55 on the use of mobile phones has been expanded : the mobile phone must be switched off during a tournament. Players who are not in one hand ( cards in muck ) are allowed to send texts (via SMS , email , Twitter etc.) as long as the recipient is not a player at the same table. A minimum distance of one table length from your own table must be kept for telephone calls . Violations of this rule can result in disqualification from the tournament.

Tournament schedule
In mid-November 2009, a tournament schedule was briefly published on the WSOP homepage , which was removed again after a short time. There was no public comment from Harrah's Entertainment . The official tournament schedule was announced on December 23, 2009, which was almost identical to the one previously published. As in the previous year, there were 57 bracelets to be won, including 12 championship events (including 10 open). There was again an event with addons , a rebuy tournament did not take place as in the previous year.
The first major change was that there will no longer be a $ 50,000 HORSE event. Instead, the so-called The Poker Player's Championship was offered with a buy-in of $ 50,000. It was an 8-game tournament in which, in addition to HORSE , the variants No-Limit Hold'em , Pot-Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball were included in the rotation. Only No-Limit Hold'em was played at the final table and the first place winner could win the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy in addition to the bracelet . The most expensive buy-in for a HORSE tournament was the new $ 10,000 HORSE Championship event .
The Stud High , Stud Hi-low Split-8 or Better , and Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better tournaments with a medium buy-in have been canceled , leaving only the $ 1,500 and $ 10,000 versions for these tournaments remained. This decision was received negatively by many players, as it would give up the characteristic variety of variants in the World Series of Poker in favor of No-Limit Hold'em . The championship event in the Mixed Hold'em (No-Limit / Fixed-Limit) discipline was also canceled. The $ 40,000 40,000 40th Annual No-Limit Hold'em tournament being offered to celebrate the 40th World Series of Poker will also be canceled . To compensate for this, a $ 25,000 no-limit hold'em / six-handed tournament was held.
The deletion of the less popular tournaments will add 5 more open $ 1,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournaments to the tournament schedule, which took place on consecutive weekends during the World Series, including one on July 1st. The attempt was made to follow up on the success of last year's $ 1,000 Stimulus Special , in which 6,102 players set the record for the largest field of participants for a non-main event tournament. Especially for professional poker players , these are low-limit tournaments ($ 1,000 and $ 1,500) less profitable because with a larger starting field, the lower number of big blinds , and the increased this year from 9 to 10 percent of entry-Fee (admission fee ) they are less able to play to their strengths.
After starting day 1D of the main event was completely sold out in the previous year and around 500 players had to be turned away, July 4th ( Independence Day in the United States ) was declared the only day without a game. Starting days 1A to 1D therefore fell on July 5th to 8th.
The tournaments were designed for three game days each. Exceptions to this were Events 3, 13, 24, 36, 47 and 54, each with two first match days and a duration of five days (four match days), Event 57 ( Main Event ) with four first and two second match days and a duration of 14 Days (ten game days), Event 1 with two game days, Event 52 with four game days and Event 2 with five game days. Separate conditions of participation applied to events 1, 22 and 34.
