Jonathan Duhamel (born August 24, 1987 in Boucherville , Québec ) is a professional Canadian poker player .

Duhamel has made more than $ 18 million in poker playing live tournaments . He won in 2010 the first Canadian the poker world championship and secured a total of three bracelets of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Career

Duhamel started playing poker at the age of 16. While studying economics, he also played online poker under the nickname johnduhamel until he decided to become a professional and drop out . From January 2011 to April 2015 he was part of Team PokerStars .

Duhamel prevailed in November 2010 at the Main Event of the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in heads-up against John Racener . For the win, he received prize money of almost nine million US dollars and a bracelet . The big Montréal Canadiens fan donated $ 100,000 of his winnings to the Montreal Canadiens Children's Organization . In January 2011 Duhamel won the high roller event as part of the European Poker Tour in Deauville, France with a prize of 200,000 euros . In the course of the year he also achieved two other placements at the 2011 WSOP and finished seventh at the main event of the World Poker Tour in Marrakech . As part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures 2012 in the Bahamas , Duhamel reached four other placements and won over one million dollars. At the 2012 WSOP he scored four more money finishes , in 2013 even eight money finishes (five at the WSOP , two in the WSOPE and one at the WSOP APAC ). At the 2015 WSOP , Duhamel won his second bracelet at the $ 111,111 High Roller for One Drop with a prize of nearly four million dollars. At the World Series of Poker Europe , which was held in Berlin in October 2015 , he won the High Roller for a prize of more than 550,000 euros and secured his third bracelet. Duhamel's last live cash placement to date was in November 2018.

From April to November 2016 Duhamel played as part of the Las Vegas Moneymakers in the Global Poker League , but missed the playoffs with his team.
