The Main Event of the World Series of Poker 1988 was the main tournament of the 19th edition of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

The main tournament of the World Series of Poker in No Limit Hold'em started on May 16 and ended with the final table on May 21, 1988. The tournament was held at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas . The total of 167 participants had to pay a buy-in of 10,000 US dollars each, and there were 36 paid places for them.
