The Main Event of the 2005 World Series of Poker was the main event of the 36th staging of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas

The main tournament of the World Series of Poker in No Limit Hold'em started on July 7th and ended with the final table on July 15th, 2005. The tournament was held for the first time at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . The total of 5619 participants had to pay a buy-in of US $ 10,000 each, and there were 560 paid places for them. Best woman was Tiffany Williamson, who took 15th place for $ 400,000.
