The Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2014 was the main tournament of the 45th edition of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

The registration for the main tournament of the World Series of Poker in the No Limit Hold'em variant was spread over the three days from July 5th to 7th, 2014. Then the game was played until the seventh day of the tournament on July 14th, after which only nine players remained. The final table was played from November 10, 2014. The entire tournament was played at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . The total of 6683 participants had a buy-in of 10,000 dollars to pay for them, there were 693 paid places. Ronnie Bardah made it into the money for the fifth time in a row, setting a new record. As in 2007 , the best woman was Maria Ho , who took 77th place for more than $ 85,000 in prize money. The event was named Tournament of the Year 2014 at the American Poker Awards .

The main event was streamed live from the third day of the tournament on the WSOP website. The US TV channel ESPN also broadcast summaries in a total of 14 episodes, commented on by Norman Chad and Lon McEachern and moderated by Kara Scott . The final table was broadcast live and exclusively on ESPN.

The final table began on November 10, 2014. Mark Newhouse became the first player since Dan Harrington to reach the final table for the second time in a row in 2003 and 2004, finishing ninth like last year . In the final hand Jacobson won with 10 10 against Stephensen with A 9 .
