The Main Event of the 1997 World Series of Poker was the main event of the 28th staging of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

The main tournament of the World Series of Poker in No Limit Hold'em started on May 10th and ended with the final table on May 13th, 1997. The tournament was held at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas . The total of 312 participants had to pay a buy-in of US $ 10,000 each, and there were 27 paid places for them. As in 1993 , the best woman was Marsha Wagoner , who took 12th place for just under 34,000 dollars.
