The Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2015 was the main tournament of the 46th edition of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

Registration for the main tournament of the World Series of Poker in the No Limit Hold'em variant was spread over the three days from July 5 to 7, 2015. Then the game was played until the seventh day of the tournament on July 14th, after which only nine players remained. The final table was played from November 8, 2015. The entire tournament was played at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . The total of 6420 participants had a buy-in of 10,000 dollars to pay for them, there were 1,000 paid spaces. 94-year-old American William Wachter turned 524, making it the oldest player to get a paid place in the WSOP Main Event. The Canadian Daniel Negreanu , who was leading the All Time Money List at the time, narrowly missed the final table and, as in 2001 , ended up in eleventh place for $ 526,778 in prize money. Best woman was Kelly Minkin , who finished 29th for more than $ 210,000.

The main event was streamed live from the third day of the tournament on the WSOP website. The US TV channel ESPN also broadcast summaries in a total of 16 episodes, commented on by Norman Chad and Lon McEachern and moderated by Kara Scott . From February 2016, the German sports channel Sport1 showed highlights of the main event that were commented on by Michael Körner . The final table was broadcast live and exclusively on ESPN.

November Nine

The nine players at the final table were also known as the November Nine . In addition to the Americans Joshua Beckley , Neil Blumenfield , Thomas Cannuli , Patrick Chan , Joe McKeehen and Max Steinberg , three players from Europe sat at the table: the Belgian Pierre Neuville , the Israeli Zvi Stern and the Italian Federico Butteroni . The youngest player was Cannuli at the age of 23, the oldest player was 72-year-old Neuville.

Final table

The final table was played from November 8, 2015. McKeehen came to the table as the clear chip leader and eliminated Patrick Chan, Federico Butteroni and Pierre Neuville on the first day. At 72, the latter was the oldest player at the final table of a WSOP main event. After the second day of the final three players remained with Blumenfield, Beckley and McKeehen. On November 10, 2015, McKeehen won the title after 183 heads-up hands. In the final hand he won with A   10 against Beckley's 4   4 .
