Poker career

Neuville first came into contact with poker in 1957 and often played the variant Seven Card Stud during his studies . After graduating from university, he didn't play poker for over 40 years until his change of heart in 2007. He then opened an account with the online poker room PokerStars under the nickname columbo and managed to qualify for the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) 23 times in a row . This achievement earned him the nickname The Serial Qualifier .

In June 2008 Neuville was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in a tournament of the No Limit Hold'em variant . In mid-April 2009 Neuville reached ninth place at the EPT Main Event in Sanremo, Italy, and won almost 80,000 euros in prize money. Five months later, he sat at a final table of the EPT Main Event for the first time and finished second in Vilamoura, Portugal for more than 250,000 euros. He repeated this performance in February 2012 at the EPT in Copenhagen , where only the Dane Mickey Petersen landed in front of him and Neuville received the equivalent of over 280,000 US dollars . He won his highest cash prize to date at the 2014 WSOP when he narrowly missed a bracelet and finished second behind Kevin Eyster in a six-handed event for almost $ 400,000 in prize money. In July 2015 , Neuville reached the final table of the WSOP main event with the fourth-largest chip stack . As the oldest participant in the so-called November Nine to date , he landed there in seventh place in November 2015 and won prize money of 1.2 million US dollars. Neuville made another final table at the 2016 WSOP , finishing No Limit Hold'em 6-handed in second place for more than $ 200,000.

Altogether, Neuville has earned more than 4.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments, making it the second most successful Belgian poker player behind Davidi Kitai .
