Ben Villaflor

Ben Villaflor (* 10. November 1952 in Negros Occidental , Philippines ) is a former Filipino boxers in the super featherweight and southpaw .

He started his professional career in 1966 and won his first 12 fights. On April 25, 1972, he boxed against the Venezuelan Alfredo Marcano for the world championship belt of the WBA association and defeated him unanimously on points over 15 rounds. He defended this belt in September of the same year with a draw with Victor Federico Echegaray and lost it on points to Kuniaki Shibata in March of the following year.

On October 17th of the same year, the rematch of the two took place. This time Villaflor knocked Shibata hard in the first round and won the WBA World Championship title for the second time. He defended the title five times and lost it on October 10, 1976 to Smauel Serrano by unanimous decision. This fight was also his last.
