Alfredo Marcano

Alfredo Marcano (* 17th January 1947 in Cumana , Venezuela ; † 5. April 2009 ) was a Venezuelan boxer in the super featherweight and normal boom . He was trained by Ely Montes and managed by Willie Ketchum .

Career

He won his first two professional fights in 1966. At the end of July 1971 he competed against Hiroshi Kobayashi for the WBA world championship belt and won in a 15-round battle in the 10th round by technical knockout.

He was able to defend this title in November of the same year against Kenji Iwata with a classic knockout victory in the 4th round and lost it the following year to Ben Villaflor unanimously on points.
