In June 2012 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came into the money twice. In the WSOP 2013 Morgenstern came first in a tournament in the variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money and managed it then also in the main event . There he went into the seventh day of the tournament as chip leader with 27 remaining players and was initially able to expand his lead even further, so that he still led the field with 21 players. He then lost two larger pots to Mark Newhouse and was eliminated in 20th place after two more losses to Fabian Ortiz. Morgenstern received prize money of around 285,000 US dollars for this . Two years later he reached the seventh day of the tournament again at the WSOP main event and finished the tournament in 22nd place for more than $ 260,000. At the end of April 2017, Morgenstern won a Pot-Limit Omaha event as part of the PokerStars Championship in Monte-Carlo and thus his first live tournament, for which he received a prize of almost 10,000 euros. At the 2018 WSOP , he finished seventh in the marathon event for around $ 85,000. At the beginning of February 2019, Morgenstern won the $ 25,000 Omaha event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne and secured a prize money of around 530,000 Australian dollars .
