Mark Newhouse (born March 11, 1985 in Chapel Hill , North Carolina ) is a professional American poker player .

Personal

Newhouse grew up in Chapel Hill in the US state of North Carolina . After graduating from high school , he began studying at Appalachian State University in Boone , but dropped out due to his poker career.

Poker career

Newhouse plays online under the nickname newhizzle . Since 2006 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

Newhouse first won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in July 2006 and made it to the final table in a Limit Hold'em tournament . He finished fifth out of 341 players and received around 55,000 US dollars in prize money. Since 2006 , Newhouse has participated in every WSOP main event . In mid-September 2006, Newhouse won the championship event of the Borgata Poker Open as part of the World Poker Tour in Atlantic City for more than $ 1.5 million. In July 2011 , he made it into the money for the first time at the WSOP main event, placing himself in 182nd place for just under $ 50,000. At the main event of the 2013 WSOP , Newhouse reached the final table as one of nine players from originally 6,352 participants , which was played in November 2013. There he was the first player to drop out and received prize money of more than $ 700,000. The following year he made it to the final table of the WSOP main event again. This time, Newhouse prevailed from 6683 players and went to the table with the third most chips, which was played from November 10, 2014. There he finished ninth again after a failed bluff and received $ 730,000 in prize money.
