Appalachian State University
The Appalachian State University (also AppState , ASU or app is called) any State University in Boone in the US state of North Carolina . The college was founded in 1899 and has been part of the University of North Carolina since 1972 . Currently, 14,653 students are at the AppState enrolled . Sheri Everts ( Chancellor ) is in charge .

Sports
The sports teams are the Mountaineers . The university has been a member of the Sun Belt Conference since 2014 .
In the 2007 Appalachian State Mountaineers - Michigan Wolverines football game, the underdogs from Appalachian State beat the far superior team from the University of Michigan .
