World Series of Poker 2006
The World Series of Poker 2006 was the 37th edition of the Poker World Championship and took place on June 25, 2006 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . It ended with the final table of the Main Event on August 10, 2006.
Tournaments
structure
The WSOP hosted a total of 45 tournaments in the poker variants Texas Hold'em , Omaha Hold'em , Seven Card stud and Razz . The tournaments included the Tournament of Champions and the HORSE event, which was held for the first time, costing US $ 50,000 .
All tournaments were held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas , Nevada . This was the first year that the WSOP was no longer connected to the longstanding Binion's Horseshoe . Humberto Brenes and Phil Hellmuth were in the money the most , along with eight money finishes . As Player of the Year was Jeff Madsen excellent. He bought two bracelets and got five cash. Even Bill Chen won two events during the tournament series. The WSOP 2006 was broadcast by German sports television , now Sport1 , from June 21, 2007 and commented on by Michael Körner .

Main Event
The main event took place from July 28th to August 10th, 2006 in Las Vegas. A total of 8,773 players took part, each paying an entry fee of $ 10,000 for the Texas Hold'em tournament.
The final table started on August 10, 2006. In the final hand, Gold won with Q ♠ 9 ♣ against Wasicka with 10 ♥ 10 ♠ . The twelve million dollars was the highest prize money that had ever been awarded at a sporting event. That record was only broken in 2012 by the Big One for One Drop .
