John Gale (born December 13, 1953 in London - † November 18, 2019 ) was a professional British poker player from England . He won two bracelets in the World Series of Poker and once the main event on the World Poker Tour .

Personal

Gale worked as a management consultant prior to starting his poker career . He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2012 . He died on November 18, 2019 at the age of 65.

Poker career

Career

Gale has played poker since 2004. He won the main event of the World Poker Tour in the Bahamas in early January 2005 . For this he prevailed against 460 other players and received a prize of almost 900,000 US dollars . In June 2005 Gale was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in a total of four times in the money; he secured most of the prize money of over 200,000 US dollars with a second place in the variant Pot Limit Hold'em . At the 2006 WSOP , he won a Pot Limit Hold'em tournament and received a bracelet and around $ 375,000 in prize money. At the end of January 2007, Gale finished third at the championship event of the Borgata Winter Open in Atlantic City for just under 450,000 US dollars. In June 2015, Gale secured his second bracelet and won the No Limit Hold'em Turbo of the 2015 WSOP with a prize of just under 300,000 US dollars.

In total, Gale has earned almost four million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
