Jamie Gold (* 25. August 1969 in New York as Jamie M. Usher ) is an American television producer and poker player . He won in 2006 the poker world championship .

Career

Gold learned poker from Johnny Chan , whom he met on a television show. Gold has been playing regularly at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas since 2005 . At the 2006 WSOP Main Event , Gold beat 8,772 other poker players. Among other things, he beat Allen Cunningham at the final table and, in addition to the world championship, secured record prize money of twelve million US dollars and a bracelet . Gold played against Paul Wasicka in heads-up and finally won the tournament when his Q 9 the pair 10 10 of Wasicka on a board of Q 8 5 A 4 defeated.

Prior to the 2006 WSOP, Gold partnered with the online casino Bodog.com . He should find celebrities who play in Bodog attire during the main event . In return, his buy-in was paid. Crispin Leyser helped him find celebrities and Gold is said to have agreed with him to split any eventual profit in half. After his victory, Gold denied that agreement and the $ 12 million was frozen by court order. Gold struggled to have half of the profit paid out. In spring 2007 it became known that Gold and Crispin Leyser had reached an out-of-court settlement. It remained unknown in what proportion the remaining six million would be paid out.
