Joseph "Joe" Cada (born November 18, 1987 in Shelby Township , Michigan ) is a professional American poker player .
Cada has made more than $ 14 million in poker playing live tournaments . He won in 2009 the poker world championship and is overall four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Cada was named as one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .
Personal
Joe's mother, Anne Cada, works as a blackjack - croupier . Cada has an older brother, Jerome. His father, Jerry, worked in the auto industry but lost his job during the recession in the late 2000s. In 2011, Joe Cada opened a sports and poker bar in Sterling Heights , near his hometown of Shelby Township.
Poker career
Career
Cada started playing poker online at Full Tilt Poker and UltimateBet . There he used the nickname jcada99 , as he did now on PokerStars . Total Cada won from 2003 to 2012 approximately 570,000 US dollars in online poker tournaments .
In June 2009 Cada was the first time in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and initially placed at two tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money. He then played the main event and reached the final table with the fifth-largest chip stack , which was played in November 2009. There Cada prevailed heads-up against Darvin Moon on November 10, 2009 and, in addition to the world title, secured a bracelet and a prize money of more than 8.5 million dollars. At the age of 21 years and 357 days, Cada replaced Peter Eastgate as the youngest winner of the main event to date.
In January 2012, Cada secured a title as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas with prize money of around $ 175,000. At the 2012 WSOP , he took three cash placements and received his highest cash prize by far of more than $ 400,000 for a second place. In mid-June 2014, Cada won the No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship at the 2014 WSOP and with it his second bracelet and a prize of around 670,000 dollars. He secured his third bracelet at the 2018 WSOP and won a shootout event with a prize of around $ 225,000. He then reached the final table in the main event with the sixth largest chip stack , which was played from July 12, 2018. Cada finished fifth and received $ 2.15 million in prize money. After this success, he won the series' Closer Event and secured his fourth bracelet and almost $ 615,000 in prize money. In early July 2019, Cada finished second in an event at the 2019 WSOP and received just under $ 470,000.
