Hossein Ensan (born May 22, 1964 in Tehran ) is a professional German - Iranian poker player .

Ensan has earned more than 13 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him one of the most successful German poker players . He won in July 2019 , the poker world championship .

Origin and family

Ensan comes from Iran and came to Germany in 1990. Before starting his poker career, he worked as a taxi operator . Ensan lives in Greven with his wife and their daughter .

Poker career

Career

Ensan has been playing poker since 2002 . His regular casino is the Hohensyburg casino in Dortmund . He has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2013 .

In August 2014, Ensan placed in the money for the first time at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and landed in Barcelona in third place for a prize money of more than 650,000 euros . At the end of March 2015 he reached the final table at the EPT Main Event again and finished sixth in Malta for over 150,000 euros. In mid-December 2015, Ensan won the EPT Main Event in Prague . For this he prevailed against 1,043 other players and secured prize money of more than 750,000 euros. In mid-October 2017, Ensan won the World Series of Poker circuit tournament at King's Resort in Rozvadov with a prize of almost 200,000 euros. In December 2017, he took third place in the High Roller at the PokerStars Championship in Prague for prize money of 242,000 euros. In July 2019 Ensan was the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful, reaching the Main Event after Henry Nowakowski ( 2001 ) and Pius Heinz ( 2011 ) as the third German to the final table , the was played from July 14th to 16th, 2019. Ensan started with the most chips and ultimately prevailed heads-up against the Italian Dario Sammartino at the three-day final table . For this Ensan received the bracelet as poker world champion and a prize of 10 million US dollars . In October 2019 he finished third in the Platinum High Roller of the World Series of Poker Europe in Rozvadov and received prize money of around 250,000 euros.
