Matthias Rohnacher (* 1961 in Mannheim ) is a professional German poker player . He was the first German-speaking world poker champion of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas . Rohnacher won this title in the game variant Pot Limit Omaha in the so-called finale of the century in 1997.

Career

Rohnacher won numerous poker tournaments in Europe and the United States in the 1990s . He was one of the first Europeans to regularly win major tournaments in the USA, including the 1992 Four Queens Classic in Las Vegas against David Reese and the 1995 World Poker Finals against Mansour Matloubi . Between 1991 and 1997, Rohnacher reached the prizes at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas 15 times , nine times at the final table (including world champion and two runner-up world champions), making him one of the most successful all-around players in Europe.

He has been living in seclusion since 2000 and rarely plays well-known poker tournaments. His last tournament success was in 2006. He continues to work as a poker teacher and advisor / director of poker-related projects. Overall, Rohnacher has earned more than 700,000 US dollars with poker in live tournaments .
