Jonas Lauck (born July 6, 1987 in Saarland ) is a German poker player . He won the Main Event of the World Championship of Online Poker in 2016 and a bracelet at the World Series of Poker in 2019 .

Personal

Lauck grew up as the son of two teachers together with his younger sister in Primstal . He studied mathematics and sports for teaching at the University of Koblenz-Landau . Lauck lives in Vienna .

Poker career

Lauck has been playing online since October 2008 under the nicknames llJaYJaYll ( PokerStars ) , Jownz Pownz (PokerStars.FR) and ll Jones ll ( Full Tilt Poker ) . As llJaYJaYll , he won the Main Event of the World Championship of Online Poker on the PokerStars platform at the end of September 2016 . For this he prevailed against 2090 other players and received a prize of over 1.5 million US dollars . Overall, Lauck has earned almost three million US dollars in online tournaments. Since 2011 he has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

In mid-July 2012, Lauck won the championship event of the Mega Stack Series at Caesars Palace with a prize money of around 260,000 US dollars. In January 2013, he cashed for the first time at the European Poker Tour Main Event and finished 91st for $ 21,000 in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas . A month later, Lauck won a high roller tournament of the France Poker Series in Deauville with a prize of over 160,000 euros . In the summer of 2013 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and first reached the money ranks in a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant . He then finished 592nd in the main event for just under $ 20,000. At the 2014 WSOP , Lauck narrowly missed winning a bracelet and finished an ante-up tournament in second place for $ 130,000 in prize money. At the main event of the WSOP 2016 he finished as the best German in 37th place for just under 175,000 US dollars. At the 2019 WSOP , Lauck won a bounty tournament and secured a bracelet and a prize of around 260,000 US dollars.

Overall, Lauck has earned at least 1.8 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
