Paul Georg Michaelis (* 1990 or 1991 in Berlin ) is a professional German poker player . He won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker in 2015 and the Main Event of the European Poker Tour in December 2018 .

Michaelis completed his studies in media and communication management in 2015 and lives in Vienna .

Poker career

Michaelis has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2011.

At the beginning of his poker career, Michaelis secured many small wins at national championships, at King's Casino in Rozvadov or at the partypoker WPT Merit Classic North in Cyprus . In May 2015 , he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished 1295th at the Colossus event. A few days later Michaelis won a tournament in Pot Limit Hold'em . For this he prevailed in heads-up against Tom Marchese and received a bracelet and almost 200,000 US dollars in prize money. At the World Series of Poker Europe taking place in Berlin in October 2015 , Michaelis reached the final table in a tournament and finished in third place for around 45,000 euros . In mid-December 2015, he made it into the money for the first time at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Prague , finishing in 58th place for around 13,000 euros. Three years later Michaelis prevailed against 1173 other players in the same place at the EPT Main Event and received his highest prize money to date of 840,000 euros as well as a "Platinum Pass" worth 30,000 dollars due to a deal at the final table with two other players. qualifying for the PokerStars Players Championship in January 2019 in the Bahamas .

Overall, Michaelis has earned at least $ 1.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
