Simon Gustav Brändström (* 18th May 1982 as Simon Gustav Persson ) is a professional Swedish poker player .

Poker career

Brändström has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2008 .

At the end of June 2008 Brändström was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in a tournament of the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the end of December 2010 he finished second in the main event of Christmas Poker Week in Gothenburg and received more than 370,000 Swedish kronor , which at that time was the equivalent of almost 55,000 US dollars . In mid-November 2013, Brändström also took second place at the Main Event of the Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam and secured prize money of over 180,000 euros . In December 2015, he sat at the final table of the main event of the Eureka Poker Tour in Prague and finished third for around 120,000 euros. In mid-March 2019, he won the deep stack tournament of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Barcelona and received just under 190,000 euros due to a deal with three other players. In the same place, Brändström also won the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in early September 2019 . For this he prevailed against the so far largest field of EPT participants of 1988 players and received his highest prize money of almost 1.3 million euros due to a deal with Márton Czuczor . Around a month later, Brändström also secured the title and a prize of $ 330,000 at the WPT Main Event in Nottingham .

In total, Brändström has earned more than $ 2.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
