Ruben Visser (born February 21, 1989 in Amsterdam ) is a professional Dutch poker player .
Personal
Visser played field hockey successfully in his youth . He studied business and marketing at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam . Visser lives in Amsterdam .
Poker career
Visser started playing poker while studying. He has been playing on the online poker platform PokerStars since March 2007 under the nickname rubenrtv . He deposited $ 100 at the start and built a bankroll playing one-dollar sit-and-gos . In September 2008 , he won a tournament in the World Championship of Online Poker with a prize money of around $ 135,000. At the end of May 2013 he prevailed at an event of the Spring Championship of Online Poker and secured prize money of almost $ 170,000 thanks to a deal with four other players. Since 2008, Visser has also participated in renowned live tournaments .
At the end of June 2009, Visser took eleventh place at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour in Barcelona, endowed with 13,440 euros . At the end of April 2010 he finished second in a side event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte-Carlo and received more than 170,000 euros. In July 2011 , Visser was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and reached the seventh day of the tournament in the main event , which is played in the No Limit Hold'em variant . There he was eliminated in 44th place, which was paid for just under $ 200,000. At the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event in the Bahamas , Visser made it to the final table in January 2012, finishing eighth for over $ 150,000. In early February 2012, he finished second at an EPT tournament in Deauville and received 152,000 euros. In mid-March 2013, Visser won the EPT Main Event in London . For this he prevailed against 646 other players and secured prize money equivalent to almost 900,000 dollars due to a deal with two other players. At the end of November 2014 he also won the main event of the Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam and received a prize of 225,000 euros. Visser's last live cash placement to date was in November 2018.
In total, Visser has earned almost $ 2.5 million playing poker in live tournaments.
