Poker career

Career

McDonald got into poker while studying. He plays online under the nicknames Tîmex ( PokerStars ) , Mike McDonald ( Full Tilt Poker ) , TlMEX ( partypoker ) , MikeMcDonald89 (TitanPoker) and timex_ (Absolute Poker) . He has tournament revenues of over three million US dollars . McDonald won his biggest online cash prize in mid-April 2014 when he finished third for $ 200,000 in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Main Event .

McDonald played his first live tournament on his 18th birthday with the main event of the World Series of Poker Europe in London , but could not place in the money. In January 2008, at the age of 18, he won the Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) as the youngest player to date . He prevailed against 410 other players in Dortmund and received a prize of 933,600 euros . In mid-March 2009, McDonald was again at the final table of the EPT Main Event in Dortmund, finishing fifth for 197,000 euros. In January 2010 he landed in third place at the EPT Main Event in Deauville for almost 300,000 euros in prize money. In early September 2011, McDonald won the Epic Poker League Main Event with a prize of almost $ 800,000. In August 2012 he finished fifth at the EPT Super High Roller in Barcelona and received around 215,000 euros for it. At the same tournament the following year he came fourth for almost 270,000 euros. In mid-November 2013, he also finished third at the Alpha8 event on St. Kitts and received more than $ 430,000. In January 2014, McDonald made the final table at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures Main Event in the Bahamas and received more than one million dollars in prize money for finishing second behind Dominik Pańka . In February 2014 McDonald played in the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne in part, reaching both the A $ 100,000 Challenge and the A $ 250,000 Challenge the final table for prize money of 3.4 million Australian dollars . The following year he sat at the final table of the A $ 250,000 Challenge again and finished second for just under 1.6 million Australian dollars. At the end of October 2015, McDonald won the high roller on the European Poker Tour in Malta with a prize of around 500,000 euros. In early January 2016, he finished eighth at an event in the Triton Super High Roller Series in Parañaque for more than $ 350,000. In May 2017, McDonald won the high roller of the partypoker Million in Kahnawake for 200,000 Canadian dollars .

Overall, McDonald's has earned more than $ 13 million in poker in live tournaments . From April to December 2016 , McDonald played as part of the Montreal Nationals in the Global Poker League and won the title with his team. In January 2017, he launched the PokerShares website , which is a place to bet on poker players.
