Rainer Kempe (born July 24, 1989 in Berlin ) is a professional German poker player .
Kempe has earned almost US $ 21.5 million with poker in live tournaments , making it the third most successful German poker player behind Fedor Holz and Christoph Vogelsang . His greatest achievement so far was winning the Super High Roller Bowl in June 2016.
Personal
Kempe comes from Berlin . He attended the Rosa-Luxemburg-Gymnasium in Pankow and later studied business administration at the University of Potsdam and at the University of Sussex in Falmer, England . Kempe lives in Brighton .
Poker career
Career
Kempe has been participating in renowned live tournaments since 2011 .
After Kempe made only small profits from 2011 to 2014 and u. a. was able to place in the money ranks twice at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour , his winnings rose sharply from 2015 onwards. End of January 2015, he finished at a tournament of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne in second place and won the equivalent of 75,000 US dollars . In June 2015 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and achieved two money placements in tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT), he made it to the final table in Barcelona at the end of August 2015 and landed in fifth place for around 320,000 euros in prize money. He was able to repeat this success about two months later, when he again reached fifth place at the EPT main event in Malta and received over 160,000 euros for it. As part of the EPT in Prague , he won the Mincash in the main event in December 2015 and then won the high roller event. For this he prevailed against 79 other players and won his highest prize money to date of 539,000 euros. In early June 2016 , Kempe won the Super High Roller Bowl at Aria Resort & Casino and received his record prize money of five million US dollars. In early March 2017, he won the 16th Aria Super High Roller and received a prize of 576,000 US dollars. In early December 2017, Kempe won the Bellagio High Roller for $ 351,000. In March 2018, he finished third at the Super High Roller Bowl China in Macau for the equivalent of more than two million US dollars in prize money. At the beginning of April 2018 Kempe finished second behind Andreas Eiler for € 450,000 in a € 25k Super High Roller at the partypoker Millions in Barcelona . In mid-November 2018, he finished seventh at the Millions World at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party in Nassau , Bahamas, and received prize money of US $ 350,000. In January 2019, Kempe won a US $ 50,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventures event in the Bahamas and secured a prize of more than US $ 900,000. About two weeks later, he also prevailed in the A $ 25,000 Challenge of the Aussie Millions in Melbourne and received prize money of almost 830,000 Australian dollars due to a deal with Toby Lewis . He then made it to the final table of the A $ 100,000 Challenge and finished in fourth place, worth around 450,000 Australian dollars. At the beginning of May 2019, Kempe won a tournament at the EPT in Monte-Carlo and secured the main prize of around 400,000 euros.
