Vojtěch Růžička (born January 2, 1986 in Liberec ) is a professional Czech poker player .

Personal

Růžička studied mathematics at the Technical University in Liberec . He lives in Prague .

Poker career

Růžička plays online under the nickname Vojta_R . At the end of September 2011 , he narrowly missed winning the Main Event of the World Championship of Online Poker and finished in second place for prize money of $ 710,000 . Since 2010 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

In February 2011 Růžička landed in the money for the first time at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 48th in Copenhagen for the equivalent of around 10,000 dollars. At the beginning of July 2011 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in 133rd place in a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant . In mid-February 2012, Růžička won the main event of the German Championship of Poker at King's Casino in Rozvadov with a prize of 122,500 euros . At the beginning of February 2013 he won the high roller tournament at the EPT in Deauville, France, with prize money of 313,000 euros. At the 2016 WSOP , Růžička cashed a total of four times. At the main event he was the second Czech after Martin Staszko in 2011 to reach the final table , which was played from October 30, 2016. There Růžička took fifth place and received prize money of almost two million dollars. In mid-April 2017 he won the Millions High Roller of the partypoker Millions in Nottingham with a prize money equivalent to more than $ 350,000.

Overall, Růžička has earned more than four million dollars with poker in live tournaments.
