Charles Francis "Charlie" Carrel (born November 7, 1993 in Saint Brélade , Jersey , Channel Islands ) is a professional British poker player from England .

Personal

Before he started playing poker, Carrel made a living as a drug dealer and also took drugs himself . He lives in London .

Poker career

Carrel plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname Epiphany77 . He initially deposited £ 10 and had a bankroll of over £ 3m in April 2017. To do this, he played online for around 16 hours every day. In September 2016 , Carrel won a World Championship of Online Poker tournament for over $ 60,000 in prize money. At the end of May 2017, he won the Main Event of the Spring Championship of Online Poker , the final table of which he played in a Starbucks due to internet problems , with a bonus of around 1.2 million US dollars.

At the end of November 2014, Carrel won the Main Event of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in London with a prize money equivalent to $ 170,000. In March 2015, he reached the final table at the high roller event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Malta and finished the tournament in fifth place for almost 200,000 euros in prize money. At the beginning of May 2015, Carrel won the EPT High Roller in Monte-Carlo for over 1.1 million euros. In the summer of 2015 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . a. he finished 940th in the main event . In early August 2019, Carrel won a tournament in the Triton Super High Roller Series in London and secured a prize money equivalent to more than 1.6 million US dollars. At the end of August 2019, he took second place at an EPT event in Barcelona and received over 480,000 euros.

In total, Carrel has earned more than $ 9.5 million in live poker tournaments , making him the third most successful British poker player after Stephen Chidwick and Sam Trickett .
