Poker career

Kassouf began his poker career at Grosvenor Victoria Casino, London, playing tournaments and cash games with low stakes. He has been participating in renowned live tournaments since 2009 .

In mid-April 2009 Kassouf reached the final table at the Irish Open in Dublin and finished the tournament in sixth place for prize money of over 100,000 euros . At the end of November 2013, he finished eighth on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in his hometown of London for the equivalent of around 25,000 US dollars . A year later, he finished fifth in the same tournament for an additional $ 35,000. At the end of August 2015, Kassouf placed in the money at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 217th in Barcelona for just under 10,000 euros in prize money. In July 2016 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in at the main event in the No Limit Hold'em variant . Kassouf polarized the tournament with his tabletalk and was punished several times by WSOP tournament director Jack Effel for missing a round. Kassouf's bluff against Stacy Matuson attracted particular attention, which he commented on with the words "Nine high like a boss". Kassouf made it to the seventh day of the tournament, on which he was eliminated in 17th place after a much-discussed hand with kings against the aces of Griffin Benger . Kassouf received prize money of almost 340,000 US dollars for this. In mid-December 2016, he secured the title at the EPT high roller event in Prague . When only Kassouf and the Canadian Patrick Serda remained in the tournament, the two players agreed on a deal so that Serda, who was ahead in chips at the time, received 719,000 euros in prize money and Kassouf 532,500 euros and the title. In January 2017, Kassouf accepted an invitation from Stacy Matuson to play a heads-up match in rematch for the bluffs at the WSOP. The event took place on February 2, 2017 as part of the 888 Festival at King's Resort in Rozvadov ; Matuson won the duel 2-0. In November 2017 , Kassouf finished 64th at the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe in Rozvadov for more than 15,000 euros.

Overall, Kassouf earned almost $ 1.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
