Chance Kornuth (born June 24, 1986 in Denver , Colorado ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Kornuth grew up in Denver and attended Bishop Machebeuf Catholic High School there. He then studied civil engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder . One semester before his graduation, he dropped out of college due to his poker successes. Kornuth lives in Las Vegas .

Poker career

Career

Kornuth has been playing online since August 2006 under the nicknames ChanceCU ( PokerStars ) and Chances Cards ( Full Tilt Poker ) . On both platforms he has tournament winnings of more than one million US dollars each . Since 2008 Kornuth has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

Kornuth won his first live prize money at tournaments in Las Vegas , in August and September 2008 he won a total of three times at the Weekly Tournament at the Hotel Bellagio with prizes of more than 15,000 US dollars each. In mid-June 2009 he was the first time in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino successfully in Las Vegas and was killed in a tournament variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money. At the 2010 WSOP , Kornuth won a Pot Limit Omaha event, securing a bracelet and a prize of more than $ 500,000. In July 2012 , he finished 156th in the WSOP Main Event for more than $ 50,000 in prize money. In mid-April 2014, Kornuth reached the final table of the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Hollywood and finished sixth for around 250,000 US dollars. In July 2014 he won the Bellagio Cup with a prize of just under 530,000 US dollars. At the beginning of 2015, Kornuth sat at the final table of the main event of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures in the Bahamas and received his highest prize money to date of around 640,000 US dollars for his third place. In January 2016, he won the A $ 25,000 Challenge of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne with a prize of just under 800,000 Australian dollars . Three weeks later he finished second behind the Italian Mustapha Kanit at the high roller event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Dublin , securing prize money of more than 360,000 euros . At the end of April 2016, Kornuth won the EPT High Roller in Monte-Carlo and received prize money of around 350,000 euros due to a deal with Philipp Gruissem and Sergei Lebedew . In mid-July 2016, Kornuth came third at the Bellagio Cup for over 285,000 euros in prize money. In mid-October 2016 he prevailed at the high roller of the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble and received a prize of more than 185,000 US dollars. At the 2017 WSOP , Kornuth finished second behind Harrison Gimbel for around $ 400,000 in a No Limit Hold'em event . At the end of June 2018, Kornuth won an online high roller event of the 2018 WSOP under the nickname BingShui and secured his second bracelet and a prize of just under 350,000 US dollars. A year later, he finished sixth in the $ 50,000 high roller event of the 2019 WSOP and received more than $ 250,000. At the beginning of November 2019, Kornuth finished second in three Poker Masters events at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and secured prize money of more than 550,000 US dollars.

Overall, Kornuth has earned almost 7.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments. From April to November 2016 he played as part of LA Sunset in the Global Poker League and made it to the playoffs with his team.
