Global Poker League 2016

The Global Poker League 2016 was the first season of this poker league hosted by the Global Poker Index and started on April 5, 2016. The playoffs took place from November 29th, the final was played on December 1st, 2016.

In the league there were twelve teams (six from America and six from Eurasia), each consisting of six players. The game was initially played in two groups, divided into America and Eurasia. The team manager was not automatically part of the team himself, but handed out two wildcards, one of which he could assign to himself. All games were broadcast live on the GPL website and on Twitch and commented there by Griffin Benger and Sam Grafton . The variant No Limit Hold'em was always played . There were three game formats:

  • Tuesdays online with one player from each of the six group teams. Points were distributed as follows:
    • 1-7 points
    • 2. - 5 points
    • 3rd - 3 points
    • 4. - 2 points
    • 5. - 1 point
    • 6th - 0 points
  • Wednesdays and Thursdays online with one player each from two group teams, i.e. H. a heads up . Three duels were played and points were distributed as follows:
    • 3 points for a win (a total of 9 points possible)
    • 0 points for a loss
  • Three to six games in the regular season as well as the final round were played live in front of an audience.
