Xuan Liu ( Chinese  璇 刘 ; born June 23, 1985 in Tianjin , People's Republic of China ) is a professional Canadian poker player .

Liu studied Chartered Financial Analysis at the University of Waterloo .

Poker career

Liu played online from June 2008 to December 2018 under the nicknames xx23xx ( PokerStars ) , 888xuan ( 888poker ) and msmerf ( Full Tilt Poker ) . During this period, she won with tournament poker around 700,000 US dollars . Since 2007, Liu has also been participating in renowned live tournaments .

Liu was successful for the first time in June 2010 at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and reached the money ranks in the Ladies Championship played in the No Limit Hold'em variant . In mid-December 2010 she won an event on the Italian Poker Tour in Sanremo and secured a prize of 48,000 euros . In the same place, Liu sat at the final table of the main event of the European Poker Tour in early May 2011 and received 360,000 euros for her third place. In January 2012, she also reached the final table at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures Main Event in the Bahamas, finishing fourth, earning her highest cash prize to date of $ 600,000. In February 2017, Liu prevailed at a tournament at the Fallsview Poker Classic in Niagara Falls and secured the grand prize of over 300,000 Canadian dollars .

In total, Liu has earned almost two million US dollars with poker in live tournaments. From April to December 2016 she played as part of the Montreal Nationals in the Global Poker League and won the title with her team.
