Global Poker League
The Global Poker League , GPL for short , is a poker league founded in 2016 by the Global Poker Index . It has been played twice so far.
First season mode
In the league there were twelve teams (six from America and six from Eurasia), each consisting of six players. The game was initially played in two groups, divided into America and Eurasia. The team manager was not automatically part of the team himself, but handed out two wildcards, one of which he could assign to himself. All games were broadcast live on the GPL website and on Twitch and commented there by Griffin Benger and Sam Grafton . The variant No Limit Hold'em was always played . There were three game formats:
- Tuesdays online with one player from each of the six group teams. Points were distributed as follows:
- 1-7 points
- 2. - 5 points
- 3rd - 3 points
- 4. - 2 points
- 5. - 1 point
- 6th - 0 points
- Wednesdays and Thursdays online with one player each from two group teams, i.e. H. a heads up . Three duels were played and points were distributed as follows:
- 3 points for a win (a total of 9 points possible)
- 0 points for a loss
- Three to six games in the regular season as well as the final round were played live in front of an audience.
Events
2016
The first season took place from April 5 to December 1, 2016. The winning team Montreal Nationals consisted of the players Marc-André Ladouceur , Mike McDonald , Martin Jacobson , Xuan Liu , Pascal Lefrançois and Jason Lavallee .
2017
In December 2016 it was announced that a second 2017 season would be held in China . It was played from September 14th to December 2nd, 2017. The winners were the Chengdu pandas .
