888poker is an online poker room that was founded in 2002. It is a brand of 888 Holdings and has been the second largest online poker provider in the world after PokerStars since 2013 .
history
The poker company was originally launched in 2002 under the name Pacific Poker and later renamed 888poker. One reason for the provider's rapid success was the change from players from the then well-known and established 888casino , which had been introduced a few years earlier, in 1997, to Pacific Poker .
When the United States Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in 2006, making online gambling illegal in the United States , 888poker was forced to close its doors to all American gamblers.
888poker was the first online poker company to introduce poker tables with webcam integration to allow its members more social interaction with other players and to make the overall gaming experience more interpersonal.

888live and XL Championships Series
Several times a year 888poker hosts the 888Live event, a series of poker tournaments held in several cities around the world.

World Series of Poker
888poker has been the main sponsor and exclusive host of qualifying rounds for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas since 2014 .
Super high roller bowl
In 2016 and 2017 , 888poker was the main sponsor of the Super High Roller Bowl hosted by Poker Central at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas . This tournament was the second most expensive poker tournament in the world with a buy-in of US $ 300,000 in 2016 and the most expensive in 2017.
World Poker Tour
In November 2017, 888poker and the World Poker Tour entered into a partnership that made it possible for all 888poker players to qualify directly for the WPT DeepStacks in Berlin .
