The 888casino , formerly known as Casino-on-Net is known, an online casino , founded in 1997 and headquartered in Gibraltar has. It is one of the oldest casinos on the internet and became the first exclusive online casino with an official gambling license from the United States in 2013 .

The Casino-on-Net was founded in 1997 by two brothers, Aaron and Avi shakes and its partners Ron and Shay Ben-Yitzhaq who are also brothers. Aaron Shaked claims that the idea of starting an online casino came to his mind at a dental conference in Monte Carlo . In 1994, the Free Trade & Processing Zone Act was passed in Antigua and Barbuda , paving the way for the development of legal online casinos. Casino-on-Net was renamed 888casino in 2010 in order to create consistency between the various 888 brands. Until 2015, the company was based and licensed in Gibraltar, New Jersey , Denmark , Spain and other countries and territories.
In 2013, 888casino was the main sponsor and namesake of the World Seniors Championship in snooker .
In 2015, the 'Gaming Intelligence' magazine described the 888casino as “the only Europe-wide casino”.
In 2017, 888casino signed a contract with 'Merkur Interactive Service GmbH' based in Berlin, part of the Gauselmann Group , and immediately added its slot machines to its own portfolio.
The 888casino was awarded the 'Safe and Fair' seal of approval by eCOGRA (eCommerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance) .
In the United States
As a result of a bill passed by the American Congress in October 2006, online gambling companies were declared illegal in the American market, which resulted in a massive emigration of these companies from the US market.
In March 2013, 888casino was granted a license as an 'Interactive Games Service Provider' by the Nevada Gaming Commission . This made the online casino the first company in the world to be enabled by American legislation to offer games of chance on the Internet.
In January 2011, New Jersey legislation passed Raymond Lesniak's bill that would allow all New Jersey residents over the age of 21 to gamble on the Internet. In August 2013, 888casino signed an agreement with Caesars Entertainment Corporation and the associated All American Poker Network (AAPN) as well as the joint venture Avenue Capital, which allowed 888casino to offer its own branded products in New Jersey . Each month, 888casino publishes independently verified, in-house figures on the casino's complete payout rate and the payout rate of each individual game. The current payout ratio of 888casino is 95.1%.
