Kara Scott (* 10. August 1975 in northern Alberta ) is a Canadian - British presenter and poker player . She is nicknamed Great Scott .

Personal

Scott grew up in simple circumstances in the north of Alberta . She graduated from the University of Calgary with degrees in teaching and linguistics . During her studies she worked as a maid in a dormitory for athletes. In 1999 Scott moved to London to teach at an inner city school. She then moved into the media industry and came to poker through her work at the World Series of Backgammon .

Scott was briefly dating poker player Brian Townsend in 2010 . Since 2013 she has had a relationship with the Italian Giovanni Rizzo. The two initially lived in Venice and moved to Parma after their marriage in May 2014 . The couple has been living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, since June 2015 . In June 2018, Scott had a daughter with her husband.

Activity as a moderator

Scott reported for various television stations a. a. from the European Poker Tour , World Poker Tour and National Heads-Up Poker Championship , she also hosted programs such as High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark . Today she is best known for her moderation of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker on the television channel ESPN , which she has carried out alongside Norman Chad and Lon McEachern since 2011 . In February 2016, she was named Moderator of the Year at the 2015 American Poker Awards, which she moderated .

Scott himself has occasionally taken part in prestigious live tournaments since 2007 .

At the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2008 , she made the money and finished in 104th place for more than $ 40,000 in prize money. At the end of October 2008 she cashed at the main event of the European Poker Tour in Budapest . Scott earned her highest prize money to date in mid-April 2009 when she finished second out of 700 players at the Irish Open in Dublin and received more than 300,000 euros for it . In 2009 , Scott came back to the paid places at the WSOP Main Event . Even afterwards she made the money several times in tournaments of the WSOP and the World Poker Tour .
