National Heads-Up Poker Championship
The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is a poker tournament that was last played in 2013. The 64 participants are invited and play in a playoff series of heads-up matches until the final winner is crowned National Heads-Up Poker Champion .
history
The idea of the tournament comes from the successful European counterpart, the World Heads-Up Poker Championship , which was last held in 2010.
The first edition of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship in 2005 was initially only intended as a gap filler, as the producing TV station NBC needed a replacement for the loss of the 2005 NHL season . The first event took place from March 4-6, 2005 at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas . In 2006, the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas hosted the second edition. It took place again from March 4th to 6th. In 2007, the Caesars Palace was once again the venue for the tournament from March 2-4. In Germany, the issues of 2005 and 2006 were broadcast by the television station Das Vierte and commented on by Michael Körner .
