Henry Orenstein (* 13. September 1923 in Hrubieszów as Henryk Orenstein ) is a Polish - American inventor and poker players .

Life

Of Jewish origin, Orenstein survived a number of National Socialist concentration camps , also because he was a member of a war-important Jewish command that appeared to consist of Jewish scientists. He was liberated in Sachsenhausen concentration camp . Orenstein then emigrated to the United States in 1947 . There he worked as a toy developer and registered over 100 patents in the toy sector. In 1984 he convinced the Hasbro toy company to start the later very successful Transformers series of figures .

In October 1993 , Orenstein came first at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas in the money and finished twelfth in the main event . He was in two years the same tournament eight and received a prize of more than 50,000 US dollars . In the WSOP 1996 won a tournament Orenstein of variant Seven Card Stud and secured a bracelet and a prize money of 130,000 dollars.

Another invention by Orenstein revolutionized the world of poker: the Hole Cam , which enables viewers of poker broadcasts to see the players' cards face down. Orenstein is also the producer of the poker formats Poker Superstars and High Stakes Poker . In 2008 he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame .

Orenstein is a philanthropist who is committed to charitable institutions. He lives in Verona , New Jersey, USA .
