Jennifer "Jen" Harman (born November 29, 1964 in Reno , Nevada ) is a professional American poker player . She is considered a cash game player, but has also made a name for herself in tournaments and is a two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Harman was named as one of two women on the list of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Personal

Harman grew up in the city of her birth, Reno, and started playing poker at the age of eight when her father asked her to replace him at the table. When she was young, she was diagnosed with chronic kidney problems that required a kidney transplant . After high school , she studied at the University of Nevada in Reno. In 2004 Harman took a year off to have another transplant. Harman was married to the Italian poker player Marco Traniello and was close friends with Daniel Negreanu . Before she met Traniello, she was temporarily in a relationship with Doyle Brunson's son Todd Brunson as well as with Howard Lederer .

Since her kidney transplant, Harman has been promoting greater awareness of organ donation. To this end, she founded the organization CODA ( Creating Organ Donation Awareness ) .

Poker career

Career

Harman was considered the best limit player in the world and could be found regularly at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas playing $ 4000/8000 limit games. At the beginning of her career, Harman only played cash games and only later started playing tournament poker. In 2000 , she won her first bracelet at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the No Limit Deuce to Seven , although she had never played that game before. At the WSOP 2002 she secured her second bracelet in Limit Hold'em and was the first woman to win two WSOP tournaments.

In total, Harman has earned over 2.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments, making him one of the most successful women in terms of tournament prize money . She wrote the chapter on Limit Hold'em in Doyle Brunson's Super System II . Harman was a member of Team Full Tilt and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame as the third woman in 2015 .
