Robert "Bobby" H. Baldwin (* 1950 in Tulsa , Oklahoma ), usually just called Bobby , is an American poker player and casino manager . He is four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .
As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Baldwin was named as one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .
Poker career
Career
When Baldwin won the main tournament of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas in 1978 , he became the youngest main event winner of the WSOP, which was won by Stu Ungar in 1980 , Phil Hellmuth in 1989 , Peter Eastgate in 2008 and 2009 was surpassed by Joe Cada . Baldwin's major wins include four bracelets from the WSOP from 1977 to 1979 . He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2003. In the 2012 WSOP Baldwin reached the Big One for One Drop with a buy-in of one million dollars to the final table and finished seventh for his was by far the highest prize money of more than 1.4 million dollars.
In 1982 Baldwin became an advisor to the Golden Nugget Casino and was named president in 1984. He was selected to lead the Mirage in 1987 and became President of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in 1998 . From 1999 to 2000 Baldwin was under Steve Wynn of the Chief Financial Officer of Mirage Resorts, 2000, he was following the merger of Mirage Resorts and MGM Grand the Chief Executive Officer of the subsidiary of MGM Mirage , Mirage Resorts. After MGM MIRAGE took over the Mandalay Resort Group in 2005, Baldwin became CEO and President of the proposed Project City Center, but retained his position as CEO of the subsidiary Mirage Resorts. Baldwin now oversees additional resorts that were added through the acquisition of the Mandalay Resort Group and the former Wynn resorts.
In addition to his poker career, Baldwin is also known as a world class billiards player . Mike Caro's book Bobby Baldwin's Winning Poker Secrets is all about Baldwin and his style of play . Baldwin has written many columns on poker and a section for Doyle Brunson's Super / System . His own book, Tales Out of Tulsa , a poker guide for beginners, was published in 1985.
"Bobby's Room", the poker room in the Bellagio, where the "Big Game" takes place, is named after him.
