Hamid Dastmalchi (* 1952 in Iran ) is a professional Iranian - American poker player . He won in 1992 the poker world championship and is overall triple bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Career

Dastmalchi's greatest success was winning the Main Event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas in May 1992 , for which he received a prize of one million US dollars and a bracelet .

Dastmalchi was involved in a lawsuit with Binion's Horseshoe in 1999 . The new management under Becky Behnen did not want to pay him the more than 800,000 US dollars he had in chips. However, he had won this before the sale of Jack Binion's casino shares to his sister Becky. A gaming committee eventually determined that the money was to be paid out.

The last tournament in which Dastmalchi cashed was a 14th place finish on the World Poker Tour in June 2002. He won more than $ 1.8 million and three bracelets in WSOP tournaments in his career .
