Koit Toome

Koit Toome (born January 3, 1979 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian pop singer and musical star . His uncle is the former Prime Minister of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic , Indrek Toome .

education

Koit Toome studied piano at the Tallinn Music High School at the age of seven . From 1994 he attended the renowned Georg Ots music school in the subjects of jazz piano, jazz and pop singing. He became known in 1998 with the album Duetid , on which he appears with popular Estonian singers.

Code One

In 1995 Koit Toome founded the band Code One, in which he works as a band leader, singer, pianist and keyboardist . Other members are:

  • Sirli Hiius (stage name: Sarah), vocals
  • Reigo Ahven, drums
  • Mihkel Mälgand, bass
  • Priit Jääger, guitar

In addition, Koit Toome appears as a well-known solo artist in Estonia. He tours internationally in the musicals Hair , Les Misérables , Dance of the Vampires , Miss Saigon and Jesus Christ Superstar .

Eurovision Song Contest

At the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham , Koit Toome represented Estonia . With the song Mere Lapsed ( German children of the sea ) he reached 36 points. He finished twelfth with Portugal .

On March 4, 2017, he and Laura were able to  prevail at the final of the Eesti Laul and thus represented Estonia with the song Verona at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev . After participating in the second semi-final, however, they could not qualify for the final.
