Uku Suviste (born June 6, 1982 in Võru ) is an Estonian singer , singer-songwriter , music producer and pianist .

life and career

Uku Suviste was born on June 6, 1982 in Võru and began making music at a young age. He was part of the Tallinn Boys Choir and graduated in 1997 from the Tallinn Music School with a focus on the piano. In 2005 he graduated as an IT administrator. At the same time, he began studying pop-jazz singing at the Georg Ots School of Music in Tallinn. In 2006 he also went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, which he graduated with excellent results.

In addition to competitions such as the Russian New Wave Festival, Uku also took part in the Russian version of The Voice, where he was eliminated in the semifinals in the team of former ESC participant Ani Lorak . In 2017 Suviste took part in the Eesti Laul for the first time , but with the song "Supernatural" he was eliminated in the semifinals. In 2019 he took part again and reached second place in the final with Pretty Little Liar . In 2020 he took part for the third time, this time with the song What Love Is . With the song, Suviste was able to clinch victory in the end and should represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ). However, the competition had to be canceled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
