Getter Jaani (2012)

Getter Jaani (born February 3, 1993 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian singer . She represented Estonia at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest .

Life and music

Getter Jaani graduated from high school in the Tallinn district of Kristiine . She is currently studying shoe design at the Tallinn Vocational Training Center. She is also active as a singer and actress.

In 2009, Jaani took part in the third season of Eesti otsib superstaari , the Estonian branch of the British talent show Pop Idol , and finished fourth. In 2010 she played in the Estonian version of the high school musical . In 2011 she was seen in the musical Verelegend .

On February 26, 2011 Jaani won the Estonian Eurovision preliminary round Eesti Laul with the song Rockefeller Street (text and music: Sven Lõhmus ) . In May she took part in the 56th Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf . Her contribution made her one of the favorites of the event, not only among bookmakers . The Focus and the FAZ also forecast a place in the top ten for Jaani. On May 12th she reached a ninth place in the second semifinals and thus made it into the final, where two days later she only finished 24th and penultimate place.

On May 26, 2012 Jaani read out the Estonian points at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku .

Since her Eurovision appearance, Jaani has recorded two more albums and various singles. In 2013 she also appeared as Sandy in the musical Grease . Since 2016 she has appeared as Désirée Clary in the musical Désirée at Salme Kultuurikeskus in Tallinn .
