Peter Nicolas Eastgate (born December 13, 1985 in Odense ) is a professional Danish poker player . He won the World Poker Championship in 2008 .

Poker career

On November 11, 2008, at the age of 22, Eastgate won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as the youngest player at the time, winning a bracelet and more than nine million US dollars Win bonus. He replaced Phil Hellmuth , who held the age record from 1989 to 2008. In the following year 2009, however, Joe Cada won the title at the age of 21. After his success, Eastgate was now listed as the best European in seventh place on the poker players' all-time money winners list. At the WSOP Main Event in 2009 he reached 78th place out of 6,494 participants and received almost $ 70,000 for it. In July 2010, Eastgate surprisingly announced his retirement from poker at the 2010 WSOP , but in February 2011 he played again at the European Poker Tour in Copenhagen. His last tournament result to date was at the beginning of June 2013 at the Amateur Poker Association & Tour in London .

In total, Eastgate has earned over eleven million dollars with poker in live tournaments, making it the most successful Danish poker player .
