Scott Blumstein (born March 27, 1992 in Morristown , New Jersey ) is a professional American poker player . He won the World Poker Championship in 2017 .

Personal

Blumstein grew up in his native Morristown . He attended Temple University and graduated with an accounting degree . Blumstein lives in Philadelphia .

Poker career

Blumstein has been playing online under the nicknames SBlast2711 (Borgata Poker NJ) , 2Due4U (WSOP NJ) and TooDue4U ( partypoker NJ ) since December 2013 and has earned more than 250,000 US dollars with tournament poker . Since 2012 he has been participating in renowned live tournaments .

Blumstein won the Deepstack Kick Off of the Borgata Summer Poker Open in Atlantic City in mid-July 2016 with a prize of almost 200,000 US dollars. At the end of July 2017 , he won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas after reaching the final table as chip leader. In return, Blumstein prevailed against 7,220 other players and, in addition to the title of poker world champion, secured a bracelet and a prize of 8.15 million US dollars. This achievement was named Tournament Performance of the Year 2017 at the American Poker Awards in Los Angeles in late February 2018 . Beginning November 2019 Blumstein reached at the first event of the Poker Masters in Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas the final table and took the prize worth nearly US $ 60,000 sixth place.

In total, Blumstein has earned more than 8.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
