The Main Event of the World Series of Poker 1979 was the main tournament of the tenth edition of the Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

The main tournament of the World Series of Poker in No Limit Hold'em started on May 22nd and ended with the final table on May 27th 1979. The tournament was held at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas . The total of 54 participants had to pay a buy-in of US $ 10,000 each, and there were five paid places for them. During the tournament, Lakewood Louie became the first player in World Series of Poker history to hold a royal flush with 10 K .
