The Main Event of the 2001 World Series of Poker was the main event of the 32nd of Poker World Championship in Las Vegas .

Tournament structure

The main tournament of the World Series of Poker in No Limit Hold'em started on May 14th and ended with the final table on May 18, 2001. The tournament was held at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas . The total of 613 participants had to pay a buy-in of 10,000 US dollars each, and there were 45 paid places for them.

Final table

Carlos Mortensen (2007)

The final table was played for the first time on May 18, 2001 with nine instead of only six players. In the final hand Mortensen won with K Q against Tomko with A A . Henry Nowakowski, who was born in Frankfurt, was the first German player to sit at the final table. His seventh place is the third-best place that a German achieved in the main event.
