Barry Shulman (born May 8, 1946 in Seattle , Washington ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Shulman attended college in the 1960s and then worked as a developer in the real estate industry for around 25 years. He moved to Las Vegas in the mid-1990s . In 1998, Shulman bought Card Player magazine , which he is chairman and editor to this day. His son Jeff (* 1975), who is also a poker player and reached the final table at the 2009 WSOP Main Event , runs the company as CEO . Besides him he has another son named Michael (* 1973) who works as a writer. Between 2005 and 2006, Barry Shulman released two poker books, each 52 tips variant Texas Hold'em give.

Poker career

Shulman began playing poker while in college . Since 1993 he has regularly participated in renowned live tournaments .

In May 1997 Shulman was first successful at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and reached the final table in a tournament in Pot Limit Hold'em . After finishing exactly once in the money tiers in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 , he managed to win a tournament in Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split Eight or Better at the 2001 WSOP . For this he prevailed against 229 other players and received more than 120,000 US dollars in prize money and a bracelet . In September 2001, Shulman won the championship event of the Four Queens Poker Classic in Las Vegas for nearly $ 150,000. Victory at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas in early December 2003 brought him his highest prize money to date of around 235,000 US dollars. In late September 2009 , Shulman won the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in London . For the win he got his second bracelet and a good 800,000 British pounds . In early 2010, Shulman finished third in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures Main Event , part of the North American Poker Tour , and won his biggest prize to date of $ 1.35 million. He finished second in the Super Seniors event at the 2019 WSOP for more than $ 220,000. Less than a month later, he finished third in a double-stack tournament in the series and secured around $ 240,000.

In total, Shulman has earned more than $ 5.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
