Adrián Mateos Díaz (born July 1, 1994 in Madrid ) is a professional Spanish poker player .

Mateos is considered to be one of the best tournament players in the world. He has earned almost US $ 21.5 million playing poker in live tournaments , making him the most successful Spanish poker player . Mateos won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe in 2013 and the Main Event of the European Poker Tour in 2015 . In 2017, he became at age 22 the youngest ever triple bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker . Mateos was at the top of the Global Poker Index for 20 consecutive weeks from November 30, 2017 to April 17, 2018 , which is synonymous with the world poker ranking. As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , he was named one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Career

Mateos lives in London . He plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname Amadi_017 . Since October 2017 Mateos has been sponsored by the French platform Winamax , where he appears as Amadi_17 . Since 2012 he has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

At the end of January 2013, Mateos won the main event of the Estrellas Poker Tour in Madrid and with it over 100,000 euros in prize money. In mid-October 2013 he won the main event of the World Series of Poker Europe in Enghien-les-Bains, France . For this he prevailed against 374 other players and received one million euros in prize money and a bracelet . Less than two months later, he placed himself in the money for the first time at a main event on the European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 93rd in Prague for around 11,000 euros. At the beginning of May 2015, Mateos won the EPT Main Event in Monte-Carlo and secured a prize of more than one million euros. In July 2015 , he was also successful for the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and landed in the main event in 750th place. In the WSOP 2016 won a tournament Mateos in the variant No-Limit Hold'em and received his second bracelet and a prize money of 400,000 US dollars . At the end of April 2017, he won the Eight Max Shot Clock of the PokerStars Championship in Monte-Carlo for 908,000 euros. At the 2017 WSOP , Mateos won the Heads-Up Championship and a prize of over $ 330,000, as well as a third bracelet as the youngest player to date. In mid-October 2017, he finished fourth at the main event of the Triton Super High Roller Series in Macau for the equivalent of almost 900,000 US dollars. Overall, Mateos collected the most points in the GPI Player of the Year ranking in 2017 and was also named Player of the Year by Card Player Magazine . In mid-January 2018, he reached the final table at the main event of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures in the Bahamas and received prize money of almost 400,000 US dollars for his fourth place. In April 2018 Mateos came to the final table of both € 25k Super High Rollers of the partypoker Millions in Barcelona and finished fourth for each of the € 419,000 in prize money. In mid-December 2018, he finished fifth at the Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, endowed with 972,000 US dollars. In November 2019 Mateos won the Millions Super High Roller of the partypoker Millions World Bahamas and received prize money of around 520,000 US dollars due to a deal . He then also prevailed at the main event of the tournament series and secured more than 1.1 million US dollars due to a deal with two other players. At the Super High Roller Bowl Russia in Sochi , Mateos took fifth place in mid-March 2020, worth $ 800,000.
