Brian Hastings (born June 24, 1988 in Hanover , Pennsylvania ) is a professional American poker player and entrepreneur . He is four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .
childhood and education
Hastings comes from Ithaca and was born in Hanover in 1988 as the son of two teachers . He graduated from Cornell University and received his Masters in Economics . He later worked for the Little Caesars pizza chain . Hastings has been married since December 2018 and lives in Fort Lauderdale .
Poker career
Career
Hastings learned poker from one of his high school teachers. He started playing online poker at the age of 16 . Hastings sometimes illegally used multiple accounts and played under the nicknames $ tinger 88 and NoelHayes on PokerStars and LucLongley and Brian Hastings on Full Tilt Poker . In December 2009, Hastings won more than four million US dollars in a cash game session against the Swede Viktor Blom on Full Tilt Poker .
Hastings earned his first major live tournament win in August 2011 at a regional World Poker Tour (WPT) event in Hollywood , Florida . He won the tournament and received more than $ 200,000 in prize money. At the beginning of June 2012, Hastings won the Heads-Up Championship of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and received a bracelet and a prize of around 370,000 dollars. At the 2014 WSOP , he cashed in the main event for the first time , finishing 64th for more than $ 100,000. A year later, Hastings won two tournaments of the 2015 WSOP within eight days and received two more bracelets and almost $ 400,000 in prize money. He then reached eleventh place in the High Roller for One Drop with a buy-in of $ 111,111 and also came in 49th in the main event . In total, Hastings cashed eight times at the 2015 WSOP and earned nearly $ 900,000. With these achievements, he narrowly missed the award as Player of the Year and ended up in second place behind Mike Gorodinsky . In late November 2016, Hastings announced that it would end its professional poker career. Nevertheless, he was still occasionally to be seen at poker tournaments and achieved u. a. a cash placement at the 2017 WSOP . In mid-April 2018, Hastings finished third at the WPT Main Event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood for around $ 335,000 in prize money. At the 2018 WSOP , he won a tournament in the mixed variant HORSE and secured his fourth bracelet and a prize of over 230,000 dollars. The following year, he finished in the Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship of the World Series of Poker in 2019 to second place and received just under $ 300,000.
In total, Hastings has made more than $ 3.5 million in poker playing live tournaments.
